On Tuesday January 19, 2021 in the context of the course "Electronic Commerce", the lecturer, Ms. Katerina Pramatari, and the students of the Executive MBA welcomed Mr. Giannis Nikolopoulos, co-founder of the company Clio Muse cliomusetours. Mr Nikolopoulos presented the progress of a business model canvas and how this led to the creation of a successful start-up company that aspires to travel their clients all around the world through innovative technology.

Our country, despite going through a ten-year economic crisis, the significant problems of immigration, the enormous multiplicity and bureaucracy, became a global example to be imitated. Indeed, the results (rate of deaths and cases in the population) were way better compared to most economically strong countries with modern public administration policies, structures and well-developed health-care systems. These outstanding performances were obviously not accidental, but the result of exemplary leadership and management practices from which we can learn valuable lessons as citizens, politicians and executives of organizations and businesses. We can learn in the sense of changing the way we think and behave in order to achieve global performance and become pioneers in all areas.

On September 18 and 24, the Executive MBA program conducted an online seminar on “Crisis and Communication Management” for students of the 21st and 22nd cohorts. The seminar was led by Mr. Dimitris Lymberopoulos, Faculty Member – Department of Marketing & Communication.

The seminar was successfully delivered, covering topics such as forecasting and preparing an organization to manage a crisis, the crisis lifecycle, its causes, and the ways in which the responsible departments of a company or organization can respond. On Friday, September 11, 2020, the Executive MBA of AUEB organized a welcome event for the new students that took place in the new building of AUEB always taking the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (masks, antiseptics, outdoor space, and social distance).

After a short greeting from the Director of the Program, Mr. Papadakis, the students participated in a series of experiential exercises under the guidance of the Assistant Professors of AUEB Mrs. Nikandrou and Mrs. Karantinou. The students shared with us their expectations, enthusiasm and goals through exercises of acquaintance, cooperation and personal expression

Greece has the largest percentage of unemployed graduates, according to the professor of the Athens University of Economics (AUEB) and a member of the Board of the Athens Exchange, George Doukidis. Almost 40% of graduates are unemployed at a time when the country's businesses are looking for highly qualified executives. That is why the Greek graduates need ... massive ... specialization.

The professor of AUEB, also notes in Liberal that the country still lacks good middle executives as there is a complete absence of technical training. The Greek State, according to Mr. Doukidis, has "taken advantage" of this situation in recent decades by degrading secondary technological education. On the contrary, the prevailing principle has been “get a university degree and frame it”...

There is no doubt that the Coronavirus pandemic in addition to other concurrent issues has rendered the period we are going through one of the most stressful periods in recent years. As such, effective stress management becomes extremely important. 

A few days before the closing of educational institutions, the 2nd year students of the Executive MBA of AUEB had the opportunity to attend an informative seminar (aside from the standard courses of the curriculum), on the subject of Stress Management. 

During the seminar, psychologist, Ms. Karalazou Thomai, underlined that stress is a healthy biological survival mechanism, but we must learn to manage it effectively. That's why she introduced some good stress management practices.

The Executive MBA of AUEB organized an event in which keynote speakers UCLAN professor and Fellow at Cambridge University Mr. Pannikos Poutziouris and Mr. Nikolas Loumidis (member of the 3rd generation of the well-known Greek family business) discussed the problems typically faced by family businesses but also the families associated with them.

The discussion covered the factors that influence the survival and growth of family businesses and offered advice on how to create governance structures and strategies that support smooth generational succession and ensure long-term sustainability.

On Monday, November 11, the Board of Directors of the Executive MBA Alumni Association of the Athens University of Economics and Business successfully organized a unique corporate speed networking event at the Serafio Center of the Municipality of Athens.

The event exceeded all expectations, as attendees enjoyed a unique networking experience and the opportunity to connect with professionals from diverse industries.

The success of the event was further enhanced by the participation of not only the program director and administrative team but also faculty members. In a full hall at the Sarogleio Mansion, students and alumni of the Executive MBA program welcomed Mr. Michael Tsamaz, the leader of Greece’s largest telecommunications group.

In his inspiring presentation, titled “OTE’s Transformation Journey: From ‘Managing in Times of National Crisis’ to Becoming a Digital Telco’”, Mr. Tsamaz described how the group not only survived the crisis but emerged stronger, developing a new vision to transform into a digital telecommunications company.

He also shared OTE’s ambitious vision for 2030: to become a Sustainable Digital Service Provider.

The sailing team of AUEB MBA alumni and students from the Executive MBA at Athens University of Economics and Business competed with top MBA alumni from around the world at the 17th Global MBA Trophy 2023!

The Global MBA Trophy, organized by London Business School, is an international event featuring sailing competitions in various locations worldwide, where alumni and students from leading business schools participate.

This year’s event took place from April 18 to 22, supported by the Hellenic Sailing Club, and included 24 teams from top business schools globally, including London Business School, INSEAD, Cambridge, Imperial, HEC Paris, MIT, Tuck, WHU Otto Beisheim, Oxford, SDA Bocconi, Wharton, IE Madrid, and others.

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the Executive MBA Alumni Association held its New Year cake-cutting celebration at IL Giardino Garden Café Restaurant, a beautiful green venue in Goudi. After two years of remote events, more than 150 alumni, students, and a group of faculty members attended, making the evening truly special.

The guest speaker, and also an alumnus of the program, was Mr. Kostas Ioannidis, founder of Business Coaching.

He delivered an engaging talk exclusively prepared for the program on Creative Design Thinking and offered a special gift for the lucky participant who found the cake’s charm: a hands-on workshop on Interpersonal Communication Skills.
